Before You Set Another Goal in 2026, Read This…
Can we talk for a moment?
I know what's happening right now. You're probably seeing it everywhere, the "New Year, New You" posts, the goal-setting templates, the vision boards, the big plans for 2026. Everyone's talking about what they're going to achieve, build, launch, and become.
And maybe part of you feels like you should be doing the same thing. Maybe you're already feeling a little behind because you haven't figured out or mapped out your Q1 strategy.
But before you open another planning template or write down another revenue goal, I want you to pause with me.
Just for a few minutes.
Because what if I told you that the best thing you could do for your business right now isn't to plan forward, it's to look back?
Here's what usually happens...
We look at where we are, see the gap between here and "there," and create bigger goals to close it.
More revenue. More clients. More impact.
But does it feel good? Or does it feel heavy, like another mountain to climb when you're already exhausted?
In our deen, we have muhasabah, self-accountability. It's honest reflection about where we've been and what we've learned.
Before you set goals for 2026, sit with 2025. Not to judge yourself, but to learn.
Your business isn't a machine that needs to produce more every year. It's part of your life, and your life is your journey back to Allah. That journey requires wisdom, and wisdom requires reflection.
Here are questions that truly matter. Sit with them in your peaceful time, or talk them through with someone you trust.
What brought barakah, and what drained it? Not all revenue is equal. You might have made money doing something that depleted you or compromised your values. Or done work that didn't pay much but filled your cup. Barakah isn't just increase, it's what remains after. It's sustainability. It's whether something brings you closer to purpose or pulls you away.
Which clients or projects aligned with your values? Did you compromise? Say yes because you needed money? Shrink your identity to fit? Work with people who didn't respect your boundaries around prayer, modesty, or values? No judgment. But if we don't acknowledge it, we'll repeat it.
What did you learn about your capacity and limits? Maybe you can't do 12-hour days and show up for family. Maybe you need slower seasons. Maybe rest isn't laziness, it's wisdom. Or maybe you're stronger than you thought.
Now what?
You don't need all the answers today. You don't have to set goals this week or even this month.
What you need is clarity. And clarity comes from reflection, not rushing.
Take your time with these questions. Sit with them. Journal. Pray. Talk with someone who gets it.
May Allah grant you clarity in your heart, peace in your decisions, and barakah in whatever path He opens for you 🤍
